Unfortunately quite regularly and it does not seem to matter that the person they are interested in does not feel as strongly.

Most people do get stuck on other people because they make emotional or spiritual attachments to them. It would be combination of things that help a person to detach. 1.) you have to make a choice to let go of your attachment. 2.)discipline yourself to let go 3.) get rid of everything that reminds you of the person material wise. 4.)cutting chords.
