It may be useful to look at what you hope a relationship with him would give you, since that may help you understand whether the question you are asking is the one you most need answered. What do you see in your life that you do not have now when you imagine being with him? Understanding what you are seeking can help clarify what matters most to you and whether your time and emotional energy are well placed here.
I am an intuitive who stays in the present rather than an intuitive who seeks to predict events that have not happened. Even so, I think questions like this can sometimes tell us something important about what we are experiencing in the present.
One exercise that may help is to imagine that you and this man do become a couple, but that he remains exactly as he is now. Don’t change his communication style, how much effort he puts into communicating, or any of the qualities that currently leave you uncertain. Keep the circumstances in his life that currently leave you uncertain, unless they would make a relationship literally impossible. Imagine that you are together and those things remain the same.
Then ask yourself honestly: Would this relationship be enough for me?
It is easy when imagining a future relationship to unconsciously include the changes we hope the other person will make. Looking instead at the person as he is today can give you a much clearer sense of what you might actually be choosing.
If you do this exercise, pay attention to your response. You may learn something important not only about how much you want this person, but about what you need from a relationship and what you are willing to accept.
