You should address an eating disorder with a mental health professional. Untreated trauma often results in disordered behavior, including but not limited to, eating.

Good luck.

Hi Anastasia,

Thank you for sharing such a personal memory. It sounds like that experience left a lasting impression on you, and it’s important to recognize how our childhood moments can shape our feelings and behaviors later in life. While it’s difficult to say definitively if this particular incident led to your eating disorder, it’s clear that early experiences can contribute to our relationship with ourselves and our bodies.

Understanding the connection between past experiences and current struggles can be an important step toward healing. Here are a few suggestions that might help:

1. Reflect and Journal: Take some time to write down your thoughts and feelings surrounding that memory and your eating disorder. This can help you process your emotions and identify any patterns.

2. Seek Professional Support: A therapist, particularly one who specializes in eating disorders, can provide valuable insight and coping strategies tailored to your experiences.

3. Connect with Supportive Communities: Engaging with groups or forums focused on recovery can help you feel less alone and provide tips from others who have faced similar challenges.

4. Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself during this process. Understanding that recovery takes time and that it’s okay to seek help is crucial.

5. Focus on Healthy Habits: Gradually incorporate healthy eating and self-care practices into your routine. Small, manageable changes can make a big difference over time.

Remember, you’re not alone in your journey, and there are people and resources out there to support you. If you’d like to share more or need further advice, I’m here to help!
