I hope everyone is doing well. I want to share some guidance. Specifically, when you are blocked by a person or they refuse to communicate with you. What I am going to share tends to be true the majority of the time. Of course, there are exceptions, but right now, we will focus on what is most common.

Reasons for Blocking

1. People block because they do not want to talk and are done with the relationship. Sometimes, it really is that simple. They are done communicating and want to move on. For them, silence is the answer and the answer is no.

2. People block to punish others or gain control. The silent treatment is a way of getting people to lower their personal standards and take the scraps they are given. This could include minimal attention, verbal abuse, cheating, or friends with benefits only.

3. People block because they are emotionally overwhelmed and need a break. They don’t know how to communicate effectively. Usually, they will respond once they have calmed down.

4. People block because they are talking to multiple people at the same time, and have finally settled on one person. They block the other people to maintain privacy, hide social media, and ensure their new partner does not find out about other connections.

5. People block and ghost because they only wanted a sexual relationship, and once they had that experience, the interest is no longer there for the long term.

Those are just some of the reasons people block, ghost, or ignore you. It is important to note, that everything listed is emotional or psychological abuse. While many of the behaviors have been normalized, none of them are healthy.

Consider This

Emotionally mature people have a conversation before they close the door. They state and share boundaries before ending a connection. Unless their personal safety is being threatened, they typically don’t just disappear. If they are no longer interested, they will say so, and then leave.

Do not focus on forcing a conversation. People who disappear struggle with honest communication. In fact, they frequently run away from their own truth and regularly lie to themselves.

Is it any wonder that they would lie to you?
